This for me is amazingly productive! You see, I always thought that I had to block out a couple of hours at a time for crafting and nowadays - elderly dogs, elderly DH, elderly crafter - this never seems to happen. However, a couple of weeks ago, Covid caught up with us and while the blocks of time were there, fatigue made it impossible to craft for longer than a few minutes! I learned to leave the mess on my desk and create in short bursts. Well, duh! Here are the cards I made to replenish my stash: -</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX0PSa7EIg1I_A14baLsw8WBDeaThRyph0j5IoRRvwbCFNeDYZZbCIvd99lW8IqdMvLPidKqJIVmtPikTaJQuBq0qp9TTpX9Vw7D7sffi05ex3NTfRaW_Ph4RUwm1mf6_OaZwgci3yqsPXrazcxbVpHUfLW9xoDChAz1WK6dBN023rpT03TgFIbiTN/s3824/IMG_1378.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3824" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX0PSa7EIg1I_A14baLsw8WBDeaThRyph0j5IoRRvwbCFNeDYZZbCIvd99lW8IqdMvLPidKqJIVmtPikTaJQuBq0qp9TTpX9Vw7D7sffi05ex3NTfRaW_Ph4RUwm1mf6_OaZwgci3yqsPXrazcxbVpHUfLW9xoDChAz1WK6dBN023rpT03TgFIbiTN/w400-h316/IMG_1378.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Stamps - Hero Arts </p><p>Inks - Uncharted Mariner, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet</p><p>Bling - Sunny Studio </p><p>Stencil - Vicki Boudin</p><p>This card is easy and so versatile. But, here I am and it's Halloween 2021. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBM8y2oakpqsN_myElg1lCFfXjrcp-vbdaVfGsHjCDcy26DOz1jBqRfR-llryoCN1HIcOUwSoXogFXGzVMfOjLcwQws079hPWVpIoF1F5uedTrumFlWuFP8zcYiDXa4Un4_DSIY5e60eY/s2048/IMG_1119.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1651" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBM8y2oakpqsN_myElg1lCFfXjrcp-vbdaVfGsHjCDcy26DOz1jBqRfR-llryoCN1HIcOUwSoXogFXGzVMfOjLcwQws079hPWVpIoF1F5uedTrumFlWuFP8zcYiDXa4Un4_DSIY5e60eY/w323-h400/IMG_1119.jpeg" width="323" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Yes, I HAD to have the Tim Holtz Moon Masks! Of course I did : ) I used Distress Oxides for the background and added one of the witches from Toil and Trouble on her broomstick. Love the spookiness of this card.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYuoeZ_2mxfCQ5ymJGOySZWfHxBVxXv3pJDvogUUjQmBnd4XxdFqtyrS_D6H6iLWI6dU5W_An6_wGBrdSMu6wx6bifBlWnoOuB2RPp_KlQQmL1gQt89WCc5uJtcyvRxa96uRwN6QzBH_U/s2048/IMG_1123.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1475" data-original-width="2048" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYuoeZ_2mxfCQ5ymJGOySZWfHxBVxXv3pJDvogUUjQmBnd4XxdFqtyrS_D6H6iLWI6dU5W_An6_wGBrdSMu6wx6bifBlWnoOuB2RPp_KlQQmL1gQt89WCc5uJtcyvRxa96uRwN6QzBH_U/w400-h288/IMG_1123.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>This is the second card I made using the Toil and Trouble die set. (The genius of the Cricut die cuts lies in their initial shadow layer which enables you to piece all the subsequent layers in order. TH and the Sizzix folks seem to have figured this out and these were much easier to build. Plus, there are great little Colorize videos to help with the placement : ) ) This little monster is on an action wobble. We were hoping that 2021 would bring everyone much happiness but so far, not so much! Even the weather has been atrocious and we've had flooding, landslides and beach erosion. We happened to arrive for our usual morning walk on the beach on Sunday just before high tide and although we did not get our walk, we were treated to some absolutely amazing and awesome wave action. A little silver lining there! </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Hero Arts included a wonderful two piece die set in the latest monthly kit and because I find paper piecing so relaxing and such fun, I used the die on four different floral backgrounds intending to recreate the word Hope by gluing in the colored pieces. I was able to make four cards with the four cuts. </span></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb-hWXoCc3jxQqVEwjrW1mpPNsyGZ0h53zPJRLwb9B632VWNaH_GDTWcrMZRxsCBsmsw67fzYaCDCGt0258VR3kSF3EXniSxeR2c6PDQHma83Ud0eGlS7Fxms9ui-WWiBtRfzRLAphXiM/s2048/IMG_0422.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1662" data-original-width="2048" height="520" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb-hWXoCc3jxQqVEwjrW1mpPNsyGZ0h53zPJRLwb9B632VWNaH_GDTWcrMZRxsCBsmsw67fzYaCDCGt0258VR3kSF3EXniSxeR2c6PDQHma83Ud0eGlS7Fxms9ui-WWiBtRfzRLAphXiM/w640-h520/IMG_0422.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><span style="font-size: medium;">And yes, there is one purple piece in there because I lost the green one I planned on putting there! It was an interesting technique and I got almost perfect results every time. I was inspired by <a href="https://heroarts.com/blogs/hero-arts-blog/awesome-add-ons-november-2020">this </a>card, but used silver embossing powder for my card. (I had to justify my purchase of a new heat gun!) I also discovered that after activating the embossing powder, I could use an embossing pen to touch up the image. I can do that!" The cards are a double pleasure and I love each one and add it to my 'Inspiration" folder. So, when a friend sent me a delightful, delightful little mini accordion book, I was inspired to try one of my own using my Cricut. And, so far, it has not disappointed me. : ) It is easier to use than the Foil Quill since there's no waiting for the tip to heat up and the mat partially ejects before cutting so that you can remove the foil. You can even use different colors of foil on the same project - think green holly leaves and red berries! Here are the first two cards I made:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh609A8kyKKSrymXNeqaKOoA4b_w4in-J2xuFDq1TV21RQRTz1q-BhI6QHqs1ip7ACJFC-eFFh_cBb7kiRR5fMjR5khWt-D9AjmoJdtxU-zy3ddYYym0mM5Ov9R2tGbKa6hq3Tz7Hz3RSM/s2048/IMG_0193.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1997" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh609A8kyKKSrymXNeqaKOoA4b_w4in-J2xuFDq1TV21RQRTz1q-BhI6QHqs1ip7ACJFC-eFFh_cBb7kiRR5fMjR5khWt-D9AjmoJdtxU-zy3ddYYym0mM5Ov9R2tGbKa6hq3Tz7Hz3RSM/w390-h400/IMG_0193.jpeg" width="390" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>The ginkgo leaf image comes from Design Space and I used the Beadwork writing font which is free with Access. <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4LY3AVILPgdt-cTgLfgYwB-NwvfrrTWa8sJNHfFP7KesB7qCZaPz7VQ2ErjasDCO0TMObO_VsmZCsVcCGITR6zy13qIatZjxbUIm-Kgd_ZNujtO8e0ZFJMs9oixlhUofyx7MRxeXodvU/s2048/IMG_0194.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4LY3AVILPgdt-cTgLfgYwB-NwvfrrTWa8sJNHfFP7KesB7qCZaPz7VQ2ErjasDCO0TMObO_VsmZCsVcCGITR6zy13qIatZjxbUIm-Kgd_ZNujtO8e0ZFJMs9oixlhUofyx7MRxeXodvU/w300-h400/IMG_0194.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Love the gold foil! However, I attached the sentiment to the image and the Cricut told me to take off the foil and add a new piece to write the sentiment. I was confused since I knew I had left enough space to foil both parts of the card. But, I did what I was told and moved the foil over and re-taped. Well, no. I did not move it far enough as you can see, the 'T' and the 'h' did not foil properly and there is a scratch under the 'n'.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEije7Rqf2cF2lS5RucpKQWVMq-NguDp2FdjI1z6IIJBxIE1EQ0OT0aOlD34P7ZjlTbLAuQd-3MQ-Ghfz9DP5UM5j2fFdO1Dq09rAO23fcn40LMqSmMTsAMPkxIwG5URSjZxj_80SdJYJzE/s2048/IMG_0195.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEije7Rqf2cF2lS5RucpKQWVMq-NguDp2FdjI1z6IIJBxIE1EQ0OT0aOlD34P7ZjlTbLAuQd-3MQ-Ghfz9DP5UM5j2fFdO1Dq09rAO23fcn40LMqSmMTsAMPkxIwG5URSjZxj_80SdJYJzE/w400-h300/IMG_0195.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div><br /><p>With my second card, I ignored the request to remove the foil and just sent it back through. Yes!</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm0nKqf2VBrl1KezcklO2mrn-y69yFeh0fnrM4j0J6YbBUlR4RXH_w-e0Of6AXGR1migJyj1FGNGnWHx_9NFPyqv-0JjttX3sZ3JaMIHn7rFF204JlyCcNuSf9WxAHjo3pqc-gyARNotk/s2000/IMG_0204.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1735" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm0nKqf2VBrl1KezcklO2mrn-y69yFeh0fnrM4j0J6YbBUlR4RXH_w-e0Of6AXGR1migJyj1FGNGnWHx_9NFPyqv-0JjttX3sZ3JaMIHn7rFF204JlyCcNuSf9WxAHjo3pqc-gyARNotk/w348-h400/IMG_0204.jpeg" width="348" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><p>Matting the pearlescent paper with foil card stock seemed to make the foiled images 'pop.' I also noticed that the Maker did not know which size tip was in the clamp, nor did it warn me when I forgot to replace the foiling tool with the cutting tool. It just debossed the card stock instead of cutting it. (Filing away that fact for use later!) </p><p>Both cards were simple to make but very pretty. Now, of course, I need more Cricut foil!!!! But in the meantime, back to Halloween projects ; ) Stay safe! I pulled them out while looking for something to use with my Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide and duh! why did I not think of inking them before????? I had the most fun getting inky and experimenting with a little of this color and a smidge of that with no clear idea what I was going to do with the finished leaves. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdgQyy0ZkI-X1G_8184i8Dkvwg4ElafiNXJfxHGYjX5zKMWcnUwcw2XP0itaubFa6YSmPtd_5KC0V3Z8boPXIGBH9LrD1UalYmVqoTUwWbNLocETV5VHzlNb_xV03tB_lfZ_1nL5aNawk/s2048/IMG_0147.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1373" data-original-width="2048" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdgQyy0ZkI-X1G_8184i8Dkvwg4ElafiNXJfxHGYjX5zKMWcnUwcw2XP0itaubFa6YSmPtd_5KC0V3Z8boPXIGBH9LrD1UalYmVqoTUwWbNLocETV5VHzlNb_xV03tB_lfZ_1nL5aNawk/w400-h269/IMG_0147.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Then I noticed the scrap paper I had been using under the maple leaves and loved, loved, loved how CCDO looked when layered over randomly placed leaves. It looks amazing every time. (Well, I think so!) I cut the background paper up and found a new-to-me card technique (from Splitcoast Stampers) called a spanner card. (Pinterest tried to insist that I meant 'spinner card' but it really is called a spanner card!) So easy to do and lots of hidden areas to decorate. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiogTd4Ed3HEZn_o3C5jjn3O6AACjeRkUrL0QquWBhHtjuNDDkjh8CU95YDSNQeP1nr3xeFyeAMYw6l1PdvEJZR6KsbiHabpc6MuxAIZRm4ppYkfQuLnUuMb8R45NlfznyytruIkNpWlg/s2048/IMG_0149.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiogTd4Ed3HEZn_o3C5jjn3O6AACjeRkUrL0QquWBhHtjuNDDkjh8CU95YDSNQeP1nr3xeFyeAMYw6l1PdvEJZR6KsbiHabpc6MuxAIZRm4ppYkfQuLnUuMb8R45NlfznyytruIkNpWlg/w300-h400/IMG_0149.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhReJbx2A0MgxkXclpvklE3lTsKmk7w-1h4Ra8q8-ZarHucHwE8GPibQsWKbJzwfeObJfrunrc4VHZok0sRztRPvs02YOjkr90gSB1g82hGuh7Q1fvwmxhtzR4Nz0h2qeEwZ5ZPL5SBEog/s2048/IMG_0150.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhReJbx2A0MgxkXclpvklE3lTsKmk7w-1h4Ra8q8-ZarHucHwE8GPibQsWKbJzwfeObJfrunrc4VHZok0sRztRPvs02YOjkr90gSB1g82hGuh7Q1fvwmxhtzR4Nz0h2qeEwZ5ZPL5SBEog/w300-h400/IMG_0150.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNgZJ-e_qb-5PfwMbTwp_-ffH5WZrgw2abrgJ89lwBQyGHou2A6O0kPWeqAp_RcrDf-__O6tKhzsNZl5EDpeWBYovGJXiPIL0bpJXSuAs8YQnHD3SUMP1UQF4q3YtHf8Zhveha5lheaAE/s2048/IMG_0153.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1998" data-original-width="2048" height="390" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNgZJ-e_qb-5PfwMbTwp_-ffH5WZrgw2abrgJ89lwBQyGHou2A6O0kPWeqAp_RcrDf-__O6tKhzsNZl5EDpeWBYovGJXiPIL0bpJXSuAs8YQnHD3SUMP1UQF4q3YtHf8Zhveha5lheaAE/w400-h390/IMG_0153.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p> And, since it stands up like a regular card, there's no need for the complicated instructions I have to include with easel and bend cards. Last week we had unprecedented heat, high winds and now, a thick blanket of smoke. There's no danger here, but we have family and friends ready to leave if necessary and head north.</p><p>I pulled out my Autumn collection of stamps and found the Tim Holtz 'Falling Leaves' set I bought last year. Aha! However, by the time I smooshed, and blended and brushed oxide backgrounds and stamped the skeleton leaves, they did not look in the least "crisp" but I liked them anyway! </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtwfIEDOYBenh1jGXUZ9v4IFMvV4IQpQsEBdjhM3TjwKNB59DhjP_BDAe-YIOyFlRJymB7XhToFmvr-wqEjDl60TJm1jrq7vLmi2OHR5uNkrYzEL5iTOr_j7vHp7cRrSfBeS9O1Tbb72Q/s2048/IMG_0138.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtwfIEDOYBenh1jGXUZ9v4IFMvV4IQpQsEBdjhM3TjwKNB59DhjP_BDAe-YIOyFlRJymB7XhToFmvr-wqEjDl60TJm1jrq7vLmi2OHR5uNkrYzEL5iTOr_j7vHp7cRrSfBeS9O1Tbb72Q/w375-h500/IMG_0138.jpeg" width="375" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>My very first slimline card and I love how much room there is to fill! I like the way it stands up straight and has lots of areas to showcase beautiful paper. It was fun to make and I enjoyed reading the directions which took me right back to my childhood in England. I had forgotten that the verb 'stick' translates to 'glue' as in, "Stick the designer paper to the card base." : )<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's the card:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRENDyllubL8JgP6xbQjeWWltedozTko29elfTZf2axzOu7H16WSQeClfUWR_mL5WJ-wHU5E4iYxkVLBHrh64TG-NWi-L6SJL6Nn1X8DpJP-gb4gOs6N1PyWUk1i7Va2M6ruh24u3fmU0/s1600/IMG_0108.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1250" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRENDyllubL8JgP6xbQjeWWltedozTko29elfTZf2axzOu7H16WSQeClfUWR_mL5WJ-wHU5E4iYxkVLBHrh64TG-NWi-L6SJL6Nn1X8DpJP-gb4gOs6N1PyWUk1i7Va2M6ruh24u3fmU0/s400/IMG_0108.jpeg" width="311" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I used Graphic 45 paper, Cheerful Daisies stamps from Sunny Studio, and a Tim Holtz die for the sentiment.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
And the back -<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

made from a Hobby Lobby paper pad. I like this one too even if it was just to figure out how the construction works.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Note to self - remember to keep the embellishments within the confines of the 4.25x 5.5 card base. I'm thinking of a haunted house on the front panel with ghosts popping up behind, and a full moon and bats on the back panel. Spooky! Happy, happy birthday Janty! Miss you, stay safe, hope to see you soon and then we can PARTY! : ) Cocoa's Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03809742470582099232noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6189510524677981894.post-3854965512992975862020-07-31T11:42:00.000-07:002020-07-31T11:42:04.705-07:00Still Masking!The challenge over at BBTB2 is Cute Critters and since we plucked up courage to leave the safety of our home and go camping, I am very late in posting my entry. We did enjoy being in our little RV, and seeing friends for the first time in forever, but gathering around a campfire in the evening, all wearing masks and socially distanced just wasn't the same! The dogs, of course, had no problem circulating and accepting treats or cuddles from everyone. : ) <br />

Nah! Nothing inspired me. Does that happen to you? The solution for me, is to stop thinking - DH would say 'overthinking' - and go work on the card that is bubbling away in the back of my mind. What I wanted to do was make another incire card. I pulled up the Lori Whitlock file and there was my solution!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQINV6BVk0tWzpGol9UkyYdKbg5GhjG02U_wSo3PtuaeI7Ccj_D3qZtxXLtmMUs_Af77nWjOtOUEKvWHSVrE1IFU02MO8truskj5Tlmlak1ErWmofDIb69rDaaHIxITgKFsjscwql_Ugc/s1600/IMG_0053.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQINV6BVk0tWzpGol9UkyYdKbg5GhjG02U_wSo3PtuaeI7Ccj_D3qZtxXLtmMUs_Af77nWjOtOUEKvWHSVrE1IFU02MO8truskj5Tlmlak1ErWmofDIb69rDaaHIxITgKFsjscwql_Ugc/s400/IMG_0053.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>

<br />
First, I used the contour button to eliminate the center cuts and folds. Then, after the card was cut, I inked the inside with Candied Apple and Worn Lipstick. I used the same Distress Oxides to ink the insert which I also cut in white card stock. <br />

Inky, messy, escapist fun!<br />
<br />
So, yesterday, I was playing catch-up with my subscribed videos and became intrigued with Jennifer McGuire's <a href="https://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2020/07/10-more-frame-die-cut-techniques.html">Frame Die</a> cutting technique. Naturally, I do not have a one single set of dies that nests together so snugly amongst all the sets I have collected over the years. : ( However, I DO have a Cricut and a star challenge over at BBTB2 and maybe, a head start on next week's encouragement cards.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I found myself needing two different styles of card for this week's Fourth of July cards. Firstly, I wanted to make a card in my "Yappy" series. Believe me, it turned out soooooo cute! Then DH said, "Isn't that a chihuahua?" and we were off on a search for a truly representative dog. Poodle? German Shepherd? Lab? Scottie? Finally, with time running out, I settled on this simple, but cute terrier. (DH - intelligent, scrappy and very independent!) <br />

Our little town is full to the brim today with families and friends out for the holiday. Last year we trekked down to the beach and enjoyed the crowds and the sky show with J and his Mom, Dad, and 'other' Grandpa. J was captivated to be on the beach AT NIGHT and could not have cared less about the fireworks! This year we are still hunkering down but will get to see the sky show from the deck. Hopefully, there will be more to celebrate next year. Stay safe! : ) ChristineCocoa's Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03809742470582099232noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6189510524677981894.post-2381339976633716922020-07-01T16:54:00.000-07:002020-07-01T16:54:27.850-07:00Here comes Summer or not!We know it's summer because the calendar says so, and because my DH in spite of his goosebumps, has decided that it is time to wear shorts on the golf course. But actually it is still winter jamies and hot soup kind of weather until the 5th of July here in the PNW. Last weeks card for the Church folks was a little optimistic: -<br />

I love this sun overlay cut from CTMH Artbooking and have seen it cut from double sided paper (twice, once mirrored - making 2 cards) with the ray cut outs reversed and pieced back in for a really cool look.<br />

Since it is technically summer, we trundled out the RV and took it out to visit with Master J to celebrate his 8th birthday. It was a lovely visit but we cut it short and came home where we felt safer. : ( <br />
<br />
And whatdayaknow? The week I make an all Cricut card, <a href="http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/2020/06/summer-solsticeshow-me-sun.html">BBTB</a> hosts a "Show me the sun" challenge! I cannot believe how many 'sun' cuts there are. I bought a Tim Holtz stamp set despite telling myself I already had cat stamps, the sentiments were just tooooo snarky, and who among my sweet, lovely friends would appreciate a card featuring a snarky cat? At the same time, I also bought the new Distress Oxide ink color - Speckled Egg - which is the exact color I need for sunny day backgrounds. Right?<br />
<br />
So here is the card I sent last week to a few, specially selected, members of my church congregation. Waiting for feedback...<br />

I was super excited to find that Lori Whitlock had developed a collection of incire cards for the Cricut Joy. I have been intrigued by this technique for years but had very little success either using a craft knife or the Martha Stewart punch. Now, thanks to Lori, I can master incire cards! </div>

It seems forever since we were out and about but, since I have vivid memories of the miseries I caused by passing measles on to my siblings, I have NO desire to pass CV on to anyone at all. So, I'll stay calm and stay in. (and craft!)<br />

I unfortunately stretched the vine stamp as I put it in the Misti, didn't notice and then got annoyed that the stamped and colored image would not die cut properly. I tried to cut out six vine images before I realized what I had done. Next time remember to fit the stamp inside the die cut BEFORE closing the Misti cover.<br />

There are stamps that feature THE 'thing' that is just starting to pop up all over the internet, and classical stuff like mason jars and gingerbread men. And no, I didn't get paid for that endorsement! Anyway, it's always exciting when an order comes from Sunny Studio and DH knows not to talk to me for a week until I've tried everything out. : )<br />
<br />
Last week's card was created from my latest SS stamps and dies. I love the sentiment! <br />

I resized a couple of the shadow layers of the letters and overlapped them so they cut in one piece. After duplicating and flipping I added rectangles in between the letters to make the card fold properly and to add stability. (Sounds a lot harder than it is!)<br />
