Mother's Day and a few recent projects

April - May is busy, busy for my family with anniversaries, birthdays and the celebration of Mother's Day and you'd think, by now, that I would start card making in February.  Sadly, no, I always wait until April arrives before hitting the panic button.  Here's a few of my creations just in case you need something quick and easy but made with love to spark your own last-minute creativity!

I played with my Foil Quill on the Mother's Day card for my amazing DIL.  The design - Rose Background,  comes from the Anna Griffin's Garden Cards cart that I purchased when I was going through my "all good things come from Anna Griffin" phase!  Love how I was able to add a just a little bling to the daisy centers.

Love, love, love Sunny Studio's latest release and have used the Wrap Around Box Die for Easter treats,  a birthday gift card, and as a wedding shower favor.  Mendi's layering stamps are so easy to use that even I can produce something passable!

I also used a die from Sunny Studio to create this comic strip card featuring yet another turtle for my  BIL!  The stamps are from Mendi and Creative Craftin' Divas.

Yet another male birthday card but this time I used a file from 3DCuts.  The pop up inside is so cool!  Do you see a reoccurring beachy theme going on here?  Thank goodness for Graphic 45 paper!

I am linking my Mother's Day card with - where else? - the challenge at BBTB2!  Check it out and thanks for visiting with me today. : ) Christine

The Easter Bunny Gets Foiled

I might be a tiny bit addicted to foil.  I have a minc machine, the gemini foil plate, glue pens and pads and gilding flakes but of course, I absolutely had to add the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill to my collection.  I ordered the kit of three sizes of quill and I love all of them.  My only complaint is that I don't seem to be able to calibrate my Cricut at the moment and cutting after foiling is not as precise as it should be.

Here's a couple of my experiments that I put together to make an Easter card.  Love this bunny from the Typography Art cart done with the fine tip: -

Easy peasy!   The lovely shine is so hard to photograph:-

Inside I added a stamped sentiment from Stamping Moms and the negative space left when I tried to foil an egg image from Miss Kate Cuttables in Design Space.

Just can't wait to get my foil order from JoAnn's so I can play some more!  I am linking my card with the Easter challenge at BBTB2 here.   Thank you for visiting with me today.  Have a hoppy Easter!    : )  Christine

Baby Boy Shutter Card

I took a class - held in a local coffee shop - from my new local scrapbooking store.  Such fun!  Cindi demonstrated shutter cards and showed us how to resize them while keeping the proportions.  I have made this kind of card before but did not understand the sizing piece.

Naturally, I had to transfer the dimensions to Design Space and try a smaller version:-

I used images from the Nursery Rhymes cart. and added background paper from Graphic 45 Precious Memories.   The card is so dimensional, yet it fits in a regular envelope for mailing.  Love it!

I had plans to make a similar baby girl card for my stash, but...  my new Foil Quill arrived and I had to play with it!   Thanks for visiting today.  : ) Christine

Irish Flamingos?

So last year the DGDs were into all things unicorn; this year, flamingos are THE thing.  Hmm... a green flamingo? Why not?

Now and again it's fun to gather together a lot of images from DS and working from a blank canvas combine them into something a wee bit different.   The flamingo comes from Christmas in July 2018 and I snipped off the Santa hat replacing it with the hat from the turtle in Create a Critter 2.  The clovers are from Celebrate with a Flourish and the leprechaun from Luck of the Irish.  All the images are available through DS Access.

Master J's card is a Lori Whitlock svg and is called a wiper card since the shamrocks flip up when the card is opened.  (??? like a windshield wiper?)

The rainbow is glitter cardstock and I added a lot more shamrocks to the wiper mechanism so it couldn't be seen.  It should amuse him for 2 minutes before he discovers the gift card to the local Funland Center and then he'll spend the rest of the day trying to talk his mom into visiting us so he can use it!  A Grandma's gotta do what a Grandma's gotta do.

A little update here... a little over two years ago we left our beloved acreage in the hills and moved into a neighborhood.  The neighbors were wonderful, but we just couldn't settle there.  Soooo, we packed ourselves up again, sold the brand new house and retired to an older, but definitely not a cookie cutter home, at the beach.  We love it!  My craft room is now a craft corner with views of the golf course and neighboring gardens.  Cocoa adores sleeping in the sunlight which floods the room and Katie loves her daily walks on the beach.  There's a local craft store on the main street and Amazon delivers to the front porch instead of a communal mailbox. How great is that?

I am so happy to be linking my flamingle card with the Bitten by the Bug challenge here.  Pop over a look at the great projects the DT have posted.  Thank you for visiting with me today.  : ) Christine

Thanksgiving? Already?

I was astounded to discover that it has been five years since I started making monthly treat boxes for the children at the local shelter.  Where does the time go?  I absolutely love finding something just a little different each month and although I know that the boxes end up ripped to shreds in the garbage, it is my great pleasure to gift the kids with something made with love.
So here's a little look back at five years of Thanksgiving treats - love that turkey, right?

 Doorhangers 2013

2014  Candy corn shaped boxes -  two versions

2015 The tail of a turkey - took me forever to figure out how to stop them falling out!

2016  Left over halloween candy with a cute topper.

2017  So cute!  What would we do without Create A Critter?

2018  I am 'told' that the kids love to get a whole candy bar and so this is simply a wrapped bar with my favorite turkey. (This time with glitter!)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!   : )  Christine

Irish Unicorns?

Do your grand-daughters love all things unicorn?  Mine do and when I saw this unicorn bundle from Lori Whitlock, I HAD to buy it.  The bundle included a gable box which would be just perfect for St. Patrick's Day with a little Design Space magic.

I added shamrocks from Home for the Holidays, Anna's Seasonal Soirees, and CTMH Flower Market.  I imported ears from another Lori Whitlock file and welded them onto a diamond shape so they would stand up behind the shamrocks.  Lastly, I duplicated the horn and flipped it horizontally to make the horn golden and glittery from both sides.  Easy peasy!

There is a gable box in Tags, Bags and Boxes, and there is also a very similar unicorn image in DS by LoveSVG.  Check it out!

I'm linking my treat box up with the "Show us you Shamrocks" challenge at BBTB2 and the "St. Patrick's Day" challenge at FCCB.  It's always fun thinking up something a little different for the seasonal challenges!   Thanks for visiting on this sunny Saturday.  : )  Christine
